NYC: United Nations, Times Square & Central Park

I’m now two days into my five day trip to the Big Apple. I arrived in New York later than planned yesterday due to weather delays at LaGuardia, but the rain has left and today was gorgeous.

After arriving yesterday afternoon I hopped into a cab and headed over to the United Nations. Because of my love of politics and particularly international relations, I’ve always had a strong respect for the United Nations and its purpose.

The UN tour covers a small area of the building, mainly consisting of the General Assembly Hall and the Security Council, and lasts about an hour.

After finishing the tour and buying a few gifts for friends I headed back over to my hotel in Times Square, had some dinner, read and headed to bed early.

Today I had to attend training for most of the day and didn’t get out until 5:00pm. I decided to take the subway to the Upper East Side and then walk down through Central Park.

I started near the Metropolitan Museum of Art and headed South through the park.

After finishing my stroll through Central Park I headed back down to Times Square, had some dinner and now I’m back at the hotel relaxing.

Still ahead on the schedule for this week: Greenwich Village, Grand Central Station, Washington Park, the Chrysler and Empire State Buildings and more. Stay tuned!
