This morning I went out for a hike in the National Park. It was still chilly out when I left the house at 8:30 so I had to throw on a light fleece jacket and jeans to keep warm.
I went over to the Brandywine Falls area and hiked the Brandywine Gorge Trail, which is an easy 1.5 mile loop. There hasn’t been much rainfall lately so the volume of water coming over the falls is reduced, but it’s still a very beautiful sight. The morning sun was low enough in the sky that it was just peaking over the top of the falls when looking up from the creek bed below.
There were a number of new wildflowers that have started to bloom since I last went for a hike in the park two weeks ago. There are now seas of purple and yellow mixed in with the ferns and grasses.
I’m taking this Friday off work and I’m hoping to go on a hike to two of the parks other waterfalls, Blue Hen Falls and Buttermilk Falls, neither of which I’ve ever been to before.
