The Office Holiday Party

This afternoon my department had our annual holiday lunch and gift exchange. This is actually the first of two that I get to go to since I’m kind of assigned to two different departments. We went out to lunch at Maria’s, a cute little Italian restaurant in Lakewood, and then got to head home early.

As is customary at most holiday parties, we did a gift exchange. I was looking forward to seeing how it would turn out because last year’s descended into a bit of chaos. For whatever reason they’ve decided that one of the rules of the gift exchange is that you can steal someone else’s gift if you don’t like the one you select, but each gift cannot be stolen more than three times. Personally, I prefer that you just get whatever it is you select and keep it, but I was outnumbered.

For my gift I bought this adorable glass Gingerbread Man that contains most of the ingredients you need to make gingerbread cookies. It also comes with a cookie cutter. They seemed to love it.

As for what I selected… well, I got a bottle of cheap Vodka. What makes it even better is that I don’t even drink! Considering that over half of the gifts were alcohol, I’m starting to think that maybe my department has a bit of a drinking problem.

The next office party is scheduled for next Wednesday afternoon at Dave & Buster’s in Westlake. I wonder what I’ll get at this gift exchange?
